The Opportunity
The Senior Accountant will take ownership of key financial functions while partnering with management and operational teams to ensure strong financial controls, accurate reporting and informed business decisions.
This role offers exposure to a dynamic trading environment involving international transactions, stock management, logistics coordination and financial risk management.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the full accounting function, including month-end processes, reconciliations and management reporting.
- Prepare financial statements, budgets, forecasts and detailed variance analysis.
- Oversee stock accounting, inventory valuations and reporting on value items.
- Support import and export transactions, including clearing processes, logistics costs and related financial controls.
- Monitor foreign currency exposure and assist with hedging activities.
- Analyse trading margins, profitability and operational costs.
- Maintain strong financial controls across procurement, sales and operational activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, reporting and efficiencies.
- Support audits and ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal policies
Requirements
- Completed BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
- Completed SAIPA articles with professional registration as a Professional Accountant (SA).
- Minimum 3 years’ post-articles commercial experience preferably within an agricultural, trading, import/export or similar business environment.
- Strong understanding of stock accounting, inventory management and cost analysis.
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with financial systems.
- Fluent in both English and Afrikaans (written and verbal).
