A leading large-scale underground mining operation in Zambia requires a Mechanical Engineer to provide hands-on leadership across shaft and winder systems on a 3–4 month contract. The role focuses on improving reliability, availability, and maintenance performance in a high-output production environment, with a structured FIFO rotation of 3 weeks on / 1 week off.
Duties/Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee mechanical integrity of shaft and winder systems across multiple shafts
- Drive reliability and availability improvements through practical engineering interventions
- Optimise maintenance practices and support CMMS/SAP-based maintenance processes
- Provide hands-on troubleshooting and technical leadership on site
- Engage with site engineering teams to stabilise and improve operational performance
Requirements:
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (or equivalent)
- Strong background in mining or heavy industrial environments
- Experience with maintenance systems (SAP or similar CMMS)
- Comfortable with FIFO/site-based work (3:1 rotation)
- Ability to operate in a short-term, high-impact contract environment
Education:
- Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional registration advantageous
