General Manager- Clearing & Forwarding – PTA003148/TN
Drive the direction, management and performance of the Clearing & Forwarding Division within a major logistics group in South Africa, specialising in end-to-end logistical solutions.
This division manages import and export processes, handling all logistics for bulk industry clients. It also focuses on project-related work, especially in infrastructure, aiming to expand operations across Southern Africa and other African countries.
You will be responsible for a combination of functional divisions comprising operations, sales and finance. You will also provide strategic direction to all operational functions by overseeing the planning and organising of operations and managing costs to ensure that services are delivered on time.
REQUIREMENTS
- South African citizen.
- Code B driver’s license and own transport.
- Willing to work after business hours as well as on Saturdays (if required)
- Business travel, nationally.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Degree or Diploma within Logistics Management industry.
- Financial Management Qualification (Diploma / Degree)
- Minimum 8 – 10 years’ experience in clearing and forwarding industry in a similar position.
- Minimum 8 – 10 years’ experience in financial management.

- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Operations
- Direct and coordinate production, pricing, sales, and distribution activities.
- Oversee development of plans, process improvement, and performance monitoring.
- Assign work schedules and duties to direct reports.
- Review financial statements, sales and performance data to ensure goal achievement.
- Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvements.
- Implement departmental goals, policies, and processes.
- Oversee staffing, training, and address HR issues in coordination with HR.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, regulations, and policies.
- Maintain sound employee relations and productive work culture.
- Ensure efficient service delivery and resolve operational problems.
Sales
- Translate business plans into actions to achieve sales and revenue targets.
- Manage and develop sales executives, ensuring client satisfaction.
- Formulate and implement client strategies to meet sales goals.
- Maintain/update client records, and foster relationships with key clients.
- Oversee recruitment and motivation of sales team.
- Prepare resources to meet future service and/or sales demands.
- Represent the company at functions and events.
Finance
- Provide input for and approve annual budgets.
- Control all departmental resources within budget guidelines.
- Compile and present budget reports to the MD.
- Oversee revenue, expenses, as well as cash flow management.
- Analyse financial reports to identify cost reduction opportunities.
