A prominent role player in the provision of specialised drilling equipment and services to the mining industry, locally and internationally currently requires an exceptional Electrician to join their team.

The position is required to assist the Underground Operations team in ensuring the adequate maintenance and ad hoc repairs for electrical equipment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical control, wiring, and lighting systems.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Performing general electrical maintenance and troubleshooting electrical issues.
  • Repairing and replacing wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
  • Perform MV switching operations.
  • Handle and organize electrical materials and tools.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
  • Good organisational and planning skills as well as problem-solving.
  • Ensure that all resources requirements are communicated to the Maintenance Superintendent in order to complete allocated work orders.
  • Ensure that all work conducted is performed to the required standards and specifications.
  • Carry out scheduled and non-scheduled repairs and installation work as required.
  • Identify spares requirements and order according to departmental procedure.
  • Perform inspections in accordance with the Mine Health & Safety Act regulations, manufacturing, and Company standards to report all defects and breakdowns on equipment and machinery to the Maintenance Superintendent.


  • Grade 12 / N3 or equivalent.
  • Relevant Trade Certificate (Electrician).
  • 5  years’ experience as an Electrician in the mining industry (underground).
  • HV experience in the mining industry will be an advantage.
  • Valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License
